MeatDrp
Merchant Agreement
This agreement governs butchers who list and sell on MeatDrp. It is separate from, and in addition to, the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy that apply to every MeatDrp account.
Version 2026-07-10
01Parties and acceptance
This agreement is between MeatDrp(“the platform”, “we”) and the registered business accepting it (“you”, “the butcher”). You accept it by ticking the acceptance box during butcher registration. We record the version you accepted and the date you accepted it.
You confirm that the person completing registration is authorised to bind the business, and that the business details you supply are true and current.
02Eligibility and verification
Listing on MeatDrprequires verification. You agree to supply, and keep current, the documents we request — which may include a Certificate of Acceptability, CIPC registration, tax clearance, and proof of the owner's identity.
We may refuse, pause, or reverse verification at our discretion, including where documents are expired, inconsistent with your listing, or cannot be validated. Verification is not an endorsement of your products and does not transfer any food-safety obligation to us.
You must pin your shop's exact collection point during registration. Orders are dispatched from that coordinate; an inaccurate pin may make your shop undeliverable.
03Listings, pricing and stock
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of every listing: cut, weight, unit of measure, price, origin, allergens, and any farming or production claim you make. Claims such as free-range, grass-fed, halaal, or organic must be substantiated on request.
Prices you publish are the prices customers pay, inclusive of VAT where you are a VAT vendor. You must keep stock levels current and must not list what you cannot supply.
04Commission and fees
MeatDrp charges a commission on the value of each order, and may charge a subscription or listing fee. The applicable rates, and any payment-processing charges passed through to you, are set out in the Fee Schedule made available to you in your butcher dashboard before you begin selling.
We will give you no less than 30 days' written notice before a rate increase takes effect. If you do not accept the new rates you may terminate under §12 before they take effect; continuing to sell after that date is acceptance.
05Payouts and settlement
Customers pay MeatDrp, not you. We collect payment, deduct commission and any fees due under §4, and settle the balance to the bank account you nominate, on the cadence set out in the Fee Schedule.
We may withhold or set off a payout against amounts you owe us, including refunds, chargebacks, and penalties under §8. You are responsible for the accuracy of your banking details; we are not liable for funds paid to an account you gave us incorrectly.
06Accepting and fulfilling orders
You must accept or decline an order within the response window shown in your dashboard, and have it ready for collection by the time you confirm. Repeated late or unfulfilled orders are grounds for suspension under §11.
You must hand over only the items ordered, correctly weighed and labelled, to the assigned rider. Substitutions require the customer's prior agreement through the platform.
07Food safety and the cold chain
You warrant that all meat you sell is fit for human consumption, sourced from an abattoir registered under the Meat Safety Act 40 of 2000, and stored and handled in compliance with the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act 54 of 1972 and regulations made under it.
You must hold product at the correct temperature until the moment of handover, and package it so the cold chain survives transit. You must maintain traceability records sufficient to identify the source of any product you sell, and produce them on request.
You must notify us immediately of any recall, contamination incident, or adverse inspection finding affecting product you have listed or sold on MeatDrp.
08Refunds, cancellations and chargebacks
Customers have rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, including in respect of goods that are unsafe, defective, or not as described. Where a refund arises from your act or omission — wrong item, short weight, spoiled product, misdescription — the refund is recovered from you.
Where a refund arises from delivery failure within our control, we bear it. Chargebacks are allocated on the same basis, together with any fee the payment provider levies.
We may issue a refund to a customer without your prior consent where we reasonably conclude the customer is entitled to one. We will tell you why, and you may dispute the allocation under §15.
09Regulatory compliance
You must comply with all laws applicable to your business, including the Meat Safety Act, the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act, the Consumer Protection Act, and municipal health by-laws. You must hold every licence, permit, and certificate your operation requires, and let them lapse at your own risk.
10Customer data and POPIA
We share customer personal information with you only to the extent you need it to fulfil an order. In respect of that information you are a separate responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.
You may use it only to fulfil the order it relates to. You may not market to MeatDrp customers using it, sell it, or retain it beyond the period your own legal obligations require. You must notify us within 24 hours of becoming aware of any compromise of it.
11Suspension and delisting
We may suspend your listings, withhold payouts, or remove you from the platform where we reasonably believe you have breached this agreement, where a food-safety risk arises, where your verification documents lapse, or where your fulfilment or quality record persistently falls below the standard we publish.
Except where a food-safety or legal risk requires immediate action, we will tell you the reason and give you a reasonable opportunity to remedy the issue before delisting you.
12Term and termination
Either party may terminate on 30 days' written notice. You must fulfil orders already accepted. Termination does not affect payouts owed to you for orders already delivered, nor amounts you owe us.
Sections 8, 10, 13, and 15 survive termination.
13Liability and indemnity
MeatDrp is a marketplace and a delivery coordinator. We are not the producer, importer, distributor, or retailer of your product. As between you and us, you carry the liability that attaches to a supplier of goods.
You indemnify us against any claim, penalty, or loss arising from product you supplied, from a claim you made about it, or from your breach of this agreement — save to the extent it was caused by our own act or omission.
Nothing in this agreement limits either party's liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or to the extent a limitation is not permitted by the Consumer Protection Act.
14Changes to this agreement
We may amend this agreement. For a material change we will give you at least 30 days' notice and ask you to accept the new version before you continue selling. We record which version you accepted and when.
15Disputes and governing law
Raise a dispute with us first, at meatdrop7@gmail.com. We will respond within 15 business days.
This agreement is governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the parties consent to the jurisdiction of the Magistrate's Court having jurisdiction over the butcher's registered address. Nothing here limits your right to approach the National Consumer Commission or another competent forum.
